ELANET
ELANET (European Local Authorities' Telematic Network) along with the IT4ALL Network are the driving force/leader of the Digital Local Agenda in Europe.
ELANET operates under the umbrella of the CEMR and it focuses on the deployment of Information society at regional and local level thorough the:
- Promotion of policy discussions and forums
- Implementation of mainstream European projects and other information society initiatives; the main one being the Digital Local Agenda.
- Dissemination of ICT solutions and projects results Europe-wide to local and regional governments through the institutional channels of the network and main European events, such as the EISCO conference.
EISCO 2005 in Krakow was the very place where the idea of the Digital local agenda was launched for the first time by the representatives of European local and regional governments. It was recommended that in the Bilbao Summit local authorities should adopt the principles and action lines expressed in their i2010 Local Agenda (Krakow declaration)
ELANET is coordinated by a Steering Committee elected by its members in the annual General Meetings. President and Vice-President are the top executive officers of ELANET.
